We want Marietta City to change its ordinance to include Retail Pouring.
Marietta City does not currently offer a Retail Pouring License.
Nearby cities and counties in Georgia have already successfully made changes in their ordinances to allow shops like ours the ability to pour wine & beer by the glass in conjunction with the sale of retail wine and beer.
The Marietta Wine Market currently holds an Ancillary Wine Tasting License, which is limiting our ability to serve customers the experience they desire and remain competitive as a small business. Per our current Ancillary Wine Tasting License “Wine tasting for customers shall be limited to one consecutive two-hour period in any one day.”
Allowing Retail Pouring would enable our customers to relax and enjoy a glass of wine or beer with friends without limitation on how long they can stay or taste. Our customers want to be able to meet friends at the Marietta Wine Market before dinner at their favorite restaurant on the Square and come back after dinner to listen to music or wait for a show.
We recently spoke at the Marietta City Council meeting and expressed our interest in having retail pouring allowed in Marietta City. Hopefully they recognize that our business model has been successful, not only in Marietta, but in other cities surrounding us. We want to be able to continue to provide a valued service to the community as a wine market & tasting venue. A change in the ordinance would allow us to remain compliant with the city ordinances and stay competitive in the marketplace.
We are asking for your help and support. Please sign this petition to tell Marietta officials that adding Retail Pouring is beneficial to the community by giving customers a more fulfilling social experience and allowing small businesses to offer product samples and increase educational opportunities and sales.

If you’re interested in helping even more, this topic will appear as an agenda item at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 28th. We’d love to have some supportive people in attendance.
You can also reach out to the Mayor or a Marietta City Council member to let them know how the Marietta Wine Market has positively impacted you, as well as the community, for the past 19 years on the Square. Thank you!
